back to Your presence, Lord,
I sense the warmth and grace of Your gaze,
I am comforted in Your sight.
It’s such an amazing contrast
to what is in my view—
A senseless maze I cannot see through,
turmoil everywhere.
When my eye is on You, I see Your hand,
the work of Your Spirit shines through.
The maze takes on a puny hue,
the turmoil a smoke to be cleared:
I sense that You’re working Your purpose;
I’m encouraged to persevere.
My heart is stirred—until something moves;
and my eyes move with it to see.
I’m unwittingly swept into life by sight,
my thread of faith cut through.
Once again I must fix my heart on You,
But one day, I shall not be moved.
