A Series on the One Accord Scriptures
Accord – Homothumadon – homou – at the same place or time, and thumos – passion.
Or in Phil 2:2 the word for accord is sumpsuchos – co-spirited, similar in sentiment; From sun – denoting close union, and psuche – breath, spirit.
Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
Continued – proskartereo – to be earnest towards, to persevere, be constantly diligent; attend, give self continually, wait on continually.
From: pros – forward, toward
And kartereo – to be strong, steadfast, patient, endure.
Supplication – Strong’s deomai – a petition, to beg, as binding oneself, stresses need or want.
Acts 2:1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Acts 2:46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
Simplicity – aphelotes – smoothness, singleness, unalloyed benevolence expressed in act.
Acts 4:24,29,30 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: "Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them….
"Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus."
Acts 5:12 And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch.
After the dispersion from Jerusalem:
Acts 8:6-8 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city.
Acts 15:24-26 Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, "you must be circumcised and keep the law"—to whom we gave no such commandment—it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Assembled – ginomai – to cause to be, generate—having come to one accord.
Phil 2:1,2 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship or the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
The Opposing Forces are Also in "One Accord"
Acts 7:54-57 When they heard these things they were cut to the heart (compare Acts 3:37), and they gnashed at him with their teeth. But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, "Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!" Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord.
Acts 18:12 When Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him to the judgment seat, saying, "This fellow persuades men to worship God contrary to the law."
Acts 19:29 So the whole city was filled with confusion, and rushed into the theater with one accord, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians, Paul’s travel companions.
