Bible Study Led by the Holy Spirit - John 1

I asked the Holy Spirit to teach me His word and felt prompted to start with John 1, and I heard a condition, that I share it with the people He brings to mind.

Having read through these passages with the Holy Spirit breathing life into them, I'm being shown the size and scope of who God is, His heart toward His creation, His plan and will for salvation and His power to carry it out. And I see the scriptural declaration that I am in faith, in Christ solely due to the choice of God for me. The Scripture is clear on that. It has nothing to do with my own efforts; it's happened despite them or any thought of mine that it depends on me. My whole work then is to believe Him, to exercise faith in Him and His word. That is what He said to His disciples, that their work was to believe Him. It took them quite a while to get it as well.

John 6:28,29 Then they said to Him, What shall we do, that we may work the works of God? Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I looked at the references as well.

1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life--

was the Word Rev. 19:13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

with God John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

was God 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

vs 2 He was in the beginning with God.

Gen. 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

vs 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Col. 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth visible ad invisible, whether thrones or dominions of principalities (rulers) or powers (authorities). All things were created through Him and for Him.

vs 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony; that God has given us eternal life and this life is in His Son.

vs 5 And the light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend (or overcome) it.

John 3:19-21 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.

vs 9 That was the true light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

Is. 49:6 Indeed He says, It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.

vs 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.

Heb 1:1,2 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in the last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

vs 11,12 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.

Gal. 3:26,27 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

1 Cor. 1:21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through wisdom did not know God it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

Eph 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

Rom. 8:28,29 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Luke 1:74, 75 To grant us that we, Being delivered from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.

Eph 2:4-9 But God, who is rich in mercy because of His great love with which He loves us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works lest anyone should boast.

vs 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, not of the will of man, but of God.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

1 Pet. 1:3-7 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it be tested by fire, may be found to praise honor and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,

vs 14 And the word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Mark 1:14,15 Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.

1 Th. 5:23,24 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
